CSUMB Instructions
You must complete the following 45 hours of requirements in order for CSUMB to evaluate your portfolio, and for you to be eligible to receive 3 graduate credits.

• Teacher Universe IntegrateOnline courses of your choice (25-30 hours)
• Teacher Universe AssessOnline Full Diagnostic and Post Assessments (3 hours)
• 1 Integrate Project, including a technology-rich lesson plan and 3 sample student projects (10-12 hours)
• 3 Reflective Essays (3-6 hours)


GET STARTED:


1. Enroll in the Teacher Universe IntegrateOnline Annual Subscription:

2. Register with CSUMB and make your payment:

3. Login to your Teacher Universe account:

  • Using the detailed New User Instructions provided to you upon enrollment, create your Teacher Universe account and login to the Professional Development Management System.
  • Click here to view the New User Instructions.
  • Remember, begin by viewing the 5-10 minute New User Orientation. Click the Courses button on the left side of the screen, then click New User Orientation under Course Selection.
  • Also, complete the Creating Your Professional Development Portfolio course, making sure you are familiar with the criteria and process for completing your Integrate Project.

4. Start the Credit Application Process via your online Professional Development Portfolio:

  • Click the yellow Portfolio button on the left side of the screen, and then click the College Credits button.
  • Click the course/program you wish to apply to from the Available Course/Program Name list.
  • Click the Start the Application Process button.
  • Read all information and requirements for the course/program to which you are applying.


COMPLETE YOUR ASSESSMENTS AND COURSEWORK:


1. Complete the AssessOnline Full Diagnostic Assessment (1 - 1.5 hours):

  • Click the orange PDMS button to return to the Professional Development Management System.
  • Complete the AssessOnline Full Diagnostic Assessment.

2. Complete at least 25 hours of Teacher Universe IntegrateOnline courses of your choice (25 - 30 hours)

  • Based on the results of your assessment, take the IntegrateOnline courses appropriate for your skill level and interests. Each of the over 30 courses takes approximately 6-10 hours. Click here for a complete course list.

3. Complete the AssessOnline Full Post Assessment (1 - 1.5 hours):

  • Take the AssessOnline Full Post Assessment - an increase from your Diagnostic score is expected.


COMPLETE YOUR INTEGRATE PROJECT:

1. Create an Integrate Project and implement it in your classroom (10 - 12 hours):

  • Using your Professional Development Portfolio, create a technology-rich, standards-based lesson plan that successfully meets the requirements of the Teacher Universe grading criteria. Click here to view portfolio instructions and grading rubrics.
  • Implement the lesson plan with your class.
  • Select three samples of student work resulting from the implementation of your lesson plan. These must be authentic student work samples selected to demonstrate three different levels of success in meeting the lesson plan objectives.
  • Submit your Lesson Plan and sample student projects for grading via your Portfolio.
  • Your lesson plan and attached sample student projects must receive a passing score from Teacher Universe. Click here to view the grading rubrics.

COMPLETE YOUR ESSAYS:

1. Upon completing your IntegrateOnline coursework, write a reflective essay of 1,000 to 1,500 words (1 - 2 hours):

  • Using your Portfolio, explain how complete of IntegrateOnline coursework influenced the way you plan to integrate technology with your classroom practice.

2. Write a 1,000 to 1,500 word essay evaluating the success of your lesson plan implementation (1 - 2 hours):

  • Explain what went well, what you learned in evaluating the student work, and what you will do differently the next time you implement the lesson.

3. Write a brief essay that outlines your next steps for technology-related professional development (1 - 2 hours):

  • Describe your professional development plan currently established by you or your district, and how and why you would like to augment it. Also, include an explanation of both the structured and unstructured activities that you will participate in over both the short-term and the long-term.
